In today’s world it is a must for a company to have a web presence. And you can only have a compelling web presence if your site is ranked? How can you do so? What is a page rank? These might be a few questions that are bothering you. In the next few paragraphs we tell you all the details about what a page rank is and how it is determined.

Generally most of the Internet users use Google to search any information relevant to their enquiries. The page rank helps them to find out their information without wasting much time. The page rank is shown on Google toolbar. It is May possible to show a page with one backlink more prominently than a page with several backlinks that means that the first one has the higher Page Rank than the other. This is actually decided by Google. They give the higher rank to those links that they think more important. They are basically derived from the important pages. The rank is decided on the importance of the pages. Google applied algorithm along with page rank, which help it to find out those particular pages that contains the relevant data. Thus the answers of the queries are derived from such data. The factors behind the importance of a particular webpage are the quality as well as number of backlinks to this page.

The links are not always got the same weight. The weight of link is oppositely relative to the numbers of links derived from the same original page. If we compare two different links from two dissimilar pages, a link that is derived from a page with a higher Page Rank will be given more credence in the algorithm. That means a link originated in a page with 2 links has much weight than the link derived from a page with 12 links.

The regular Google users always use page rank value while they search any particular topic. Thus Google can provide the answer within a few minutes. On the other hand the results of the search also come in to the point and relevant to the queries. This can be possible because Google uses algorithm, which helps it to match the texts.

There are other factors that are keys behind the success of Google in determining the weight of the links. The weight of the links is depends on the conditions like the location of the linking page whether it is originated in the same domain or in different domain. It also takes into account the geographical immediacy. If the linking page is located in the same server then that can have a great effect in considering the weight of that particular link. In addition with that, if there is a text within its anchor text the weight of the link will vary.
