How to Block Sitelinks in Google Search Results

Sitelinks are some additional links which are shown below the main website URL which are automatically assigned by Google and you dont have any option to assign you own selected Sitelinks but you do have a option to Block them in order to make sure Google assigns new links under the Sitelinks feature.

Recently i did some changes to this website and many URL were broken because i had removed some articles and the links which were all giving a error page, hence having these links under the Sitelinks meant nothing because they would lead the visitors to pages which didn’t exist. The only solution left was to Block these links and make sure Google removes them as soon as possible.

When you do a Sitelinks search for TheSEOWorld in Google then you will find the following results which you can see in the screenshot, and i had to create a account in Webmaster Tools in order to get started with the Blocking process.

From the above listed 6 links , 5 were not working now and i wanted to get them blocked to make sure its fixed as soon as possible. Here is the process for the same :

  • Login to Google Webmaster Tools Account.
  • Go to your Website Dashboard and move to the Links > Sitelinks section for the list of Sitelinks generated dynamically by Google.
  • Click on [Block] next to the Links in order to block them, which is generally blocked for 90 days. You can again Click on [unblock] in order to include the link in the search results.
